BioBank Sample Management System

A previous project was with Imperial College London, to create a bespoke BioBank Sample Management System for the Hepatology Unit based at St Mary's Hospital.

This Biobank stores human blood and tissue samples for research and is fully regulated by the Human Tissue Authority.  In collaboration with the Biobank Manager, I created a system that allows essential clinical information related to each sample to be recorded and stored within the database.

In addition, the system allows the Biobank Manager to check how many samples are currently held within the bank at any time, how many have been allocated to a specific researcher and how many are stored in a specific location, the system final also includes an auditing tool.

Bio Markers Sample Management System

The Bio Markers project was a second project that was done in conjunction with Imperial College London. The basic premise of the system is that of the Bio Bank, however this system differs from Bio Bank in that the samples that are contained with this system, where previously collected at multiple sites around the country rather than at a single location and so the information was collated into an Excel spreadsheet that needed to be imported into the system to allow administrators to be able to search the sample information to find the samples required.
